TYT, CM perform Aidilfitri prayer with 3,500
Sabah Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin together with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor performed the Aidilfitri prayer with more than 3,500 Muslims at the State Mosque, on Wednesday.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin together with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor performed the Aidilfitri prayer with more than 3,500 Muslims at the State Mosque, here, on Wednesday.

Juhar and his wife Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni arrived at 7.20am and were greeted by Hajiji, Deputy Chief Minister Ill Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya, State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya and Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) Director Jumain Abdul Ghani.

At 7.45am, the Aidilfitri prayer was led by State Mosque Grand Imam Suhaidi Kaunting, followed by a sermon entitled “Azam Lakukan Perubahan Capai Kemajuan (Determination To Make Changes To Achieve Progress)” delivered by State Mufti Datuk Bungsu @ Aziz Jaafar.

Juhar and Norlidah spent time shaking hands with the congregation before leaving the ceremony at 8.30am.

Also present were Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, Assistant Ministers to the Chief Minister Datuk Ruslan Muharam and Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, Kota Kinabalu City Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah and Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) Deputy Chairman Datuk Malai Ali Malai Ahmad.

Meanwhile, about 300 invited guests attended the Head of State’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House at Istana Seri Kinabalu on Thursday.

The guests of honour consisted of Hajiji and his wife Datin Seri Juliah Salag, Kadzim and his wife Datin Seri Noraini Salleh and the Cabinet Ministers and their respective wives.

The ceremony began with a takbeer led by Istana Religious Officer Imran Anggun before the banquet, followed by the cutting of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri cake.

In addition to being served a variety of Hari Raya dishes, the guests were also entertained by a gambus band from Papar and a singing performance.

Juhar and Norlidah also took memorable photos with the guests.
