30pc of co-ops in Sabah dormant

Kota Kinabalu: Some 30 per cent of registered cooperatives in Sabah are problematic or dormant, about the same as the national average for dormant cooperatives.

According to Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (SKM) Deputy Chief Executive Officer Amran Abdul Kadir, the cases in Sabah involved new and long-existing cooperatives.

He said the problematic cooperatives were mostly due to governance problems.
