Road concessionaire does half-hearted repair jobs

KUNAK: The damaged road structure at Jalan Kadazan Mostyn for the past few months has been repaired by the road repair concession.
However, a complainant said only part of the road structure was “repaired” by the contractor, while some others nearby were still left without proper repair.

“I carried out a check-up today (Thursday), it is true that there is repair work being done during the day, but there are still road surface structures that are cracked and waiting will cause further damages”, said the complainant, a resident of Kg Mostyn Lama who uses the main road to go to Pekan Kunak.
Jalan Kadazan Mostyn is an important route used by residents from Kg Mostyn Lama and Kg Sri Bahagia to Pekan Kunak.
Most of Jalan Kadazan Mostyn is still covered with gravels while the rest is paved connecting the route to the Simpang Empat roundabout at KM 4 of Jalan Kunak Spur.
The Kadazan Mostyn road, which is more than two kilometers long, is now under the supervision of the Public Works Department (JKR) in Kunak.

Residents are also appealing for the gravel road to be smoothen and maintained regularly because it gets dusty during the dry season.
“There are still gravel paths there that are not complete, forcing small vehicles to pay extra attention when passing through the area”, he said.

The complainant said that he had given details about the condition of the damaged road to JKR for further action.
