LAHAD DATU: Thirteen students of a vocational college, aged between 16 and 19, have been arrested to facilitate investigations into the death of their college mate, here, Friday.

The 17-year-old victim was found unconscious around 6.50am in one of the college’s dorm rooms.

Lahad Datu District Police Chief Dr Rohan Shah Ahmad said police received a report from the college director about the matter.

“Medical officials who arrived at the scene pronounced him dead there,” he said in a statement.

According to initial reports, Rohan said the victim was found unconscious on the floor.

“There were injuries and bruises on the victim’s body. We believe this happened due to a misunderstanding between the victim and other students,” he said.

“The incident is believed to be over a phone charger…do not speculate and leave the police to do investigations,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
