Motorcyclist killed in Papar crash

PAPAR: A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision along Km 7, Jalan Papar Baru-Kota Kinabalu, on Wednesday.
District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the incident occurred about 3.38pm when a Ford Ranger driven by a 27-year-old man, who was with a 38-year-old passenger, was overtaking vehicles while heading towards Kota Kinabalu from Papar.

“The driver who entered the opposite lane collided with the victim who was heading towards Papar from Kota Kinabalu.
“The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown off to the roadside while his motorcycle crashed into a nearby lamppost,” he said.
Kamaruddin said the driver then crashed into an electric pole and hit another vehicle parked nearby.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers from Papar Hospital while the driver and passenger escaped unscathed.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
