Measures to reduce hardcore poverty: CM
“The State Government is also trying to provide them opportunities by instructing government-linked companies or new investors who come to Sabah to provide jobs, including members from the e-Kasih list,” Hajiji said.
Tuaran: The State Government is determined to reduce hardcore poverty in the State, assured Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said various initiatives are underway to help people break free from poverty.

“This is a challenge that the State Government must prioritise by identifying those who are in extreme poverty so that we can help them.

“Among the initiatives carried out include the construction of 1,500 units of houses per year to be handed over to them.

“In addition, the state government offers funds to assist them in starting small businesses as a revenue-generating effort.

“The State Government is also trying to provide them opportunities by instructing government-linked companies or new investors who come to Sabah to provide jobs, including members from the e-Kasih list,” he said.

He was met by the media in conjunction with the Berbuka Puasa bersama Ketua Menteri Sabah Programme hosted by the Gagasan Rakyat Sabah at the Pusat Kebudayaan Rumpun Bajausama in Kg Lok Batik, Saturday.

Earlier, while chairing the Sulaman Division GRS Committee Members Meeting, Hajiji emphasised the need for grassroots leaders to work together to carry out their responsibilities.

“I want all grassroots leaders and branch heads to foster unity and work together to help the people.

“Like the current drought, I will ensure that leaders at the grassroots level go to the field to help and to report areas without water to the district officer of the responsible department to find a solution,” he said.
