Government support for efforts to develop human capital : Hajiji
Hajiji said the State Government always cares about the living conditions of all citizens, including the education of young Sabahans, especially the B40 group.
Tuaran: The Sabah Government will support every effort of the State Education Department to produce knowledgeable, educated and skilled human capital, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

According to him, programmes such as WeHelp implemented by the department are helpful in the State Government’s effort to achieve its human capital development agenda.

The distribution of targeted aid through this programme can definitely have a positive impact on the recipients, he added.

He hoped the handover of aid for the year 2024 by the department would achieve its objective and be able to give positive impacts to the target group who will ultimately be able to contribute towards the development and prosperity of the State as well as the wellbeing of the people.

“A programme like this is very important, in line with the second thrust of the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) which refers to human capital and the wellbeing of the people,” he said when launching the WeHelp Programme, Handover of Spectacle Aid, Pupil School Bags and Cura Cheque from the Sabah Education Department at SMK Badin Tuaran, here, Monday.

His speech was read by Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd Executive Chairman and Pantai Dalit Assemblyman Datuk Jasnih Daya.

The Chief Minister believed that with the department’s hard work and dedication through the WeHelp Programme, every student in the State can be helped according to their individual needs based on the profiling obtained through the student needs survey.

Hajiji said the State Government always cares about the living conditions of all citizens, including the education of young Sabahans, especially the B40 group.

He said this is because they are the human capital that will continue the Government’s agenda through the Hala Tuju SMJ Development Plan.

“For that reason, the State Government has provided many education assistance programmes for students, including the one-off Higher Education Institution (IPT) Registration Cash Assistance (Budi), the Computer Assistance (Baik), the Examination Cash Assistance (Bakti) and the Sabah Education Excellence Award (Aksa).

“In addition, the State Government has also increased the State Government Scholarship fund from only RM50 million to RM101 million per year.

“This is to ensure that more qualified young Sabahans have the opportunity to obtain scholarships in their efforts to continue their studies to a higher level.

“All this assistance has not only provided many benefits, especially in reducing the financial burden of the poor and B40, but also to ensure that no young Sabahan is marginalised from getting educational opportunities in the State,” he said.

He expressed appreciation and thanks to all contributors of aid to students in Sabah such as the Sabah Zakat Centre, Permodalan Malaysia Berhad (PNB) and Sabah Baitulmal Corporation.
