PENAMPANG: The MKS Agro Sdn Bhd farm received a visit from the Malaysian Prisons Department, recently.

According to its Manager Datuk Haji Jamawi Jaafar, the visit was aimed at holding a more focused discussion to cooperate in the Prison Agro Community Rehabilitation Programme 2024.

Jamawi, who is also Chairman of the Sabah Urban Development Corporation (SUDC), said he had no problem cooperating with the Prisons Department.

He also gave suggestions on the potential of suitable crops to focus on the skills training of Final Prisoners and Trainees of the Henry Gurney School (SHG) so that they can be independent when they are released.

“Hopefully when this collaboration is implemented it will provide benefits to all, especially ex-prisoners and trainees,” he said.

Jamawi added that he would help the agricultural course at SHG Keningau.

In addition to durian crops, Jamawi also raises goats in the farm.

The delegation was led by the Director General of the Prison Management Division of the Malaysian Prison Headquarters, Haji Ajidin Haji Salleh.

He was accompanied by Deputy Director General of the Sabah State Prison Department and Federal Territory of Labuan, Hajah Nora binti Musa, and senior officers of the Sabah State Prisons Department.
