Sabah’s Aretha set to defend title
Aretha expects a hectic season ahead having gained playing rights in the Taiwan, China and Thailand ladies’ tours.
Kota Kinabalu: Aretha Pan is set to defend her ladies title in the Tun Ahmad Sarji Trophy tournament to be held at the Saujana Golf & Country Club in Selangor starting today (Tuesday).

The Sabahan won the season opener last year with a four-day total of 294, four ahead of second placed Jocelyn Chee.

She went on to take the Order of Merit (OOM) title with two more victories, twice as runner-up and twice in third place in the Toyota Tour managed by the Professional Golf Malaysia and delivered by MST Golf Group.

“My game plan hasn’t changed. I definitely want to try to defend my OOM title in the Toyota Tour but at the same time I want to start winning international events as well.”

She expects a hectic season ahead having gained playing rights in the Taiwan, China and Thailand ladies’ tours.

Meanwhile, fellow Sabahan Nicholas Fung, who won the Hilux Cup in the tour held at Sabah Golf and Country Club last year, is among the pre-tournament favourite for the men’s title together with defending champion Danny Chia, last year’s Order of Merit winner Ervin Chang, Galven Green,  Daeng Rahman, Edven Ying and Khavish Varadan, the best Malaysian finisher in the recent Malaysian Open.
