Display fares, buses advised

SANDAKAN: Public transport vehicles, especially stop-and-go buses, are advised to display the latest fare schedules on their vehicles.
Sabah Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (LPKP) Director Dairin Unsir said action would be taken against operators who fail to display fare schedules and renew vehicle stickers.

He was met by the media after attending “Op Bersepadu” with enforcement agencies, organised by Sabah LPKP, in front of the Sandakan Forestry Department.
Dairin said the programme held for the first time by Sabah LPKP focused on violations involving commercial vehicles and public transport vehicles.
A total of five agencies were involved in the operation, namely LPKP, Royal Malaysian Police, Road Transport Department (JPJ), Immigration Department and the National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA).
Dairin said LPKP issued six notices after inspecting 50 buses, 12 lorries and 15 e-hailing vehicles.

The police issued eight summonses after inspecting 120 vehicles and the JPJ inspected 60 vehicles and issued 14 summonses.
The Immigration Department arrested five adult men and seized a vehicle.

In the operation, 18 men underwent a preliminary urine screening test but all were found to be negative.
