Over 2,000 celebrate Kota Kinabalu High School’s CNY ‘do’

Michael ushering in the Lunar year with the Kota Kinabalu High School community.
Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu High School (KKHS) ushered the year of the Dragon with thunderous reverberations of 24 Seasons Drum, an energetic Dragon and Lion Dance, an elegant Chinese Orchestra and an array of spectacular performances by talented students that created a festive aura of joy and hope to more than 2,000 eager students and school communities.
The occasion was graced with the presence of Datuk Michael Lui Yen Sang, the President of the Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI), Superintendent Hajah Kalsom Binti Haji Idris, the Kota Kinabalu Deputy Police Chief, Lim Kiat Kong, the president of the School Board of Governor, Dr Lim Qing Kui, the Vice President of the School Parent-Teacher Association and the school’s Alumni.

The programme was jointly organised by the school’s Chinese Language Panel, Pre-University lecturers and Discipline Unit.
KKHS Lunar Year’s celebration is not just a celebration but one of the platforms that foster unity and harmony among the school communities that transcends cultures, races, religions and beliefs.
KKHS principal, Ms Lily Wong Bitt Lee said the Chinese New Year celebration is the most important occasion in the Chinese community which symbolises newness, hope and prosperity.
She hoped that being the year of the Dragon, this year would bring more luck and prosperity to everyone.

On another note, she also mentioned as the foster school of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), KKHS can be a role model of a “zero crime” school.
Michael hoped teachers would continue to uphold their aspirations in educating and instilling moral values among students.

He reiterated that KKCI will always be the strongest supporter in all KKHS’s endeavours.
