Beaufort SPM students forced to use alternative route
The train can only reach Mile 62 as there is a landslide which affected the railway
BEAUFORT: A landslide along the Halogilat railway had forced many SPM candidates to use other modes of transport on an alternative route, claimed a resident.

Edwin Louis claimed parents had to bring their children to the township in car pools.

“The train can only reach Mile 62 as there is a landslide which affected the railway,” he said, Monday.

He further claimed the landslide happened due to rain.

“Everyone is rushing as today is a school day, and the Form Five students are also sitting for SPM.

“Some villagers opted to spend the night at their relatives’ houses.”

He also claimed many vegetable sellers were affected as only some people own a vehicle to go to the township.

“They will lose their source of income,” he said, adding those working with companies are also affected.

“We hope the State Railway Department will expedite the railway repair to facilitate the villager’s accessibility,” he said.
