SIPITANG: Villagers of Kg Padang Berempah have demanded an explanation from the district Water Department on the disruption of water supply to the village for the past four days.
One of the affected villagers, Zainal AB, said there has been no water supply till now (Wednesday), leaving them high and dry.

“Many people are affected as there is no supply to the villagers as well as school.
“For those who can afford, they can rely on their water tanks but even then the supply is fast dwindling. And what about the poor?” he lamented.
Like it or not, Zainal said, they have no choice but to buy bottled water to continue their life.
“This is causing a heavy burden to the poor because they need to incur transportation cost to go to town just to buy bottled water,” he said.

He said the Water Department should send a water tanker to the village which can at least ease the villagers’ burden.
“Upon knowing that the water supply will be closed or cut off, the department should have acted quickly by sending water tankers to the villagers rather than leaving them without water,” he said.

Zainal said the villagers are calling on Sindumin Assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yaccob and Sipitang Member of Parliament Datuk Matbali Musah to act and ensure water is supplied directly to all the affected villagers.
