Umno-Warisan pact no threat: Jannie

Recently, during the Warisan Annual General Assembly, Sabah Umno Chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and Warisan President, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal did not rule out the possibility of forming a collaboration.
Kota Kinabalu: An Umno-Parti Warisan cooperation may be a formidable enemy but not a threat to Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah in the next State elections, said a former member of the Warisan-Plus State Government.
Kapayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang said no political coalition is deemed as a threat unless it can prove that it can work well together.

“There are only a small number of groups that want to work with Warisan,” she said.
“I will not see any political party as a threat unless they can work well because they can make mistakes. We have seen how we fell as a government when we make a mistake, we have to learn from it.

“For me, the best step in Sabah is to look at a coalition that can serve the people in a good way and bring political stability.”
The Sabah DAP Committee member said the political situation in Sabah is quite unique because the once strong Umno is now split and weak after most of them joined the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government.

According to Jannie, the Unity Government at the federal level may be seen as able to move forward, however, such things cannot be achieved in Sabah because there are still two opposition parties.
Nevertheless, she believes the Umno-Warisan collaboration still has a chance because both parties have experience governing Sabah.

Jannie said, on behalf of PH Sabah, cooperation with the GRS government will continue until the end of the term, adding that PH is always open to discussing with all parties.
“PH did have a discussion with the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, indeed we intend (to cooperate) until the end of the term.
“Since there are already discussions, I think we will continue to have a dialogue with all parties,” she said.
