PAPAR: SJK(C) Kin Kiau in Kinarut, near here, will undergo further development with the construction underway of a multipurpose hall and administration building.

The development entails building a hall and a four-storey administration block for SJK(C) Kin Kiau, as well as elevating the grounds of Kin Kiau Kindergarten to tackle flooding, followed by upgrading the existing preschool to a two-storey building with nine classrooms, one computer room, one staff room and a mini hall.

In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, newly-appointed Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the Government is committed to supporting efforts in providing buildings and school facilities that are conducive to the learning and teaching process.

“Education is the best investment to build a bright future for our country.

“The excellence of a nation is dependent on its knowledgeable human capital to drive development,” he said in his speech delivered by his Political Secretary Mohammad Ghazali Datuk Seri Hajiji.

Armizan, who is also Papar MP, said there are only two schools in Kinarut - a Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) and a Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC).

“The rapid development of Kinarut has increased the number of students, with both primary schools unable to cope with the growing number of pupils.

“Many children are forced to study in schools far away from their homes,” he said.

Hence, he is proud of the Kin Kiau Primary School and Kindergarten’s initiative to upgrade their buildings.

“I am confident that the enrolment at the SJKC and Kindergarten (Kin Kiau) will increase when the new administration block and school hall are completed,” Armizan said.

Meanwhile, SJK(C) Kin Kiau Board of Governors Life Honorary Chairperson Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen said the new four-storey administration building would serve various functions.

“This building includes a canteen on the ground floor, a staff room on the first floor, a library on the second floor and four activity rooms on the top floor.

“Upon completion, students will have space to enjoy all the facilities,” she said.

On the other hand, Susan said the school multipurpose hall is spacious, covering an area of 8,800 square feet and has the capacity to accommodate two badminton courts.

“The hall can be used for various purposes such as gatherings and performances, and can serve as an ideal space for major activities.

“It will provide a platform for teachers and students to showcase their talents and spend quality time together.

“The construction of the four-storey administration building and multipurpose hall marks the beginning of a new era of SJK(C) Kin Kiau,” she said.

As for Kin Kiau Kindergarten, Susan said the building would be upgraded from single-storey to a two-storey building with nine classrooms, a staff room and a school hall.

After the upgrade, she said the kindergarten would be able to enrol more students, especially those from four to six years old.

“This investment in the education sector shows the school’s commitment to provide a better learning environment for the students.

“While the construction project is a challenging task, it brings hope and prospects for a better future,” she said.

She further urged individuals to support the extension projects of SJK(C) Kin Kiau and Kin Kiau Kindergarten.

Also present were SJK(C) Kin Kiau School Board Chairman Thie Ting Yau, Kin Kiau Kindergarten School Board Chairman Thie Ting Pun, Papar District Education Officer Bakri Sudin and other officials.
