Kota Kinabalu: The Putatan Sabah Games (Saga) contingent are aiming to win at least five gold medals at the 10th Sabah Games (Saga) scheduled to start on Saturday.
Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, who is also Putatan’s member of Parliament, is confident the district represented by 293 athletes competing in 16 sports will do better than they did in previous games.

“In 2019, I understand that Putatan only won four gold medals in addition to silvers and bronze. So this time we are aiming to achieve more than five gold medals.
“There are several events that Putatan are considered favourite such as pencak silat, petanque, basketball, archery and hockey,” he said when officiating the flag handing over ceremony held in Putatan on Tuesday.
He also announced incentives will be offered to those who performed well in the competition and they will receive them only after the games.
The Minister also urged the athletes to display high sportsmanship in addition to good discipline and teamwork throughout the games.
