Suhaili: Loophole gives MPs advantage to switch support

Kota Kinabalu: The loophole in the Anti-Party Hopping law gives advantage to federal lawmakers to switch its support, said Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman.
On Oct 31, Suhaili, who contested the 15th General Election under Perikatan Nasional, declared his support to the Unity Government and was given sums of allocation for his constituents.

“I did not read the Anti-Party Hopping law clearly. What I know is if we quit the party, the seat will be vacated, but I just declared support and got the allocation.
“The one who amended (the law) was not me, it was the then government. But, if the law is destined to have loopholes, that will be our rezeki,” he said when met at the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah annual general meeting at Sabah International Convention Centre, here.
Apart from Suhaili, there are three other PN lawmakers - Jeli, Gua Musang and Kuala Kangsar - who pledged their support towards the Unity Government.
He also clarified that his attendance at the event does not mean that he has joined Gagasan Rakyat, but merely as a support towards Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor who is also President of the party.

Suhaili also said he would take legal action against those who slandered him for accepting money for switching support.
He justified that his decision was to help his constituents.
