PENAMPANG: Travelling on an earth road for between six to eight hours to go to the nearest town has been a routine for villagers of Kampung Terian and its surrounding villages for decades.
Even though Malaysia is 60, villagers in this outskirt of Kota Kinabalu have yet to enjoy good infrastructure.

Only four wheel drives can reach this remote village, after navigating muddy and slippery roads especially when it rains, and crossing rivers with big pebbles.
Darwina Kahar, 45, said the over 200 villagers have to depend on the earth road to get to Penampang some 30km away.
