Essential goods sold at 20pc discount

SANDAKAN: The Jualan Murah Keluarga Malaysia (JMKM) was held at the Gemilang Supermarket at Bandar Midtown here.It was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI), Malaysia and coordinated by the Sandakan Farmers Organization Board (LPP) and the Sekong Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM).

Sekong Community Development Officer, Katizah Ebrahim and it was aimed at easing the burden of people where eight essential goods were sold at 20pc less than the market price.
“LPP and UPPM were given the task to coordinate the program and Gemilang Supermarket was chosen as the venue.
“It is not just this Wednesday. We hope to have it twice a month till September especially for the eight essential items,” she added.
The organizers will also look for another supermarket in the Batu Sapi area to give consumers a wider choice.

Meanwhile, a representative of the Gemilang Supermarket, Nurul Fasilah Saleng Jaga said the eight items sold at a cheaper price are sugar, chicken, three brands of rice, cooking oil and flour.
The supermarket’s manager, Ahmad Sabar said the supermarket which is owned by a local is proud to be able to play a role in helping the public to buy the eight items at a cheaper price.
