TAWAU: A three-storey orphanage costing RM1.3 million will be built in Kampung Jawa, near SMK Tawau here to accommodate girls. The existing Al-Raudah Orphanage Home at Batu 4, is currently occupied by 18 boys aged between seven and 17.
Officer-in-Charge of Al-Raudah Orphanage Home, Haji Ahmad Siong (seated, centre) said they planned to build a new orphanage for girls earlier and the two-acre site has been identified. He hoped this project could be fully completed by end of 2021.
He said this to the media at the orphanage when receiving a visit from QL Group Tawau in conjunction with Chinese New Year festive. Apart from distributing angpao to the orphans and staff, the company also donated RM2,000 to the orphanage home.
The Al-Raudah Orphanage was set up in 2006 but it started operations in 2007 with 12 male orphans. These orphans are Malaysians. It was a non-governmental organisation (NGOs) which was initially built with the assistance of Sabah Credit Corporation at RM180 thousand.
“Although these orphans are Muslims, many non-Muslims are concerned about them and willing to visit them,” Ahmad Siong said.
Also present were QL Group Director Liu Sin (seated, third left), Advisor Chia Suan Hooi (seated, second right), Human Resources Manageress Jessica Soo (seated, second left) and her administration assistant Lenny Marlina Embran (seated, left).
