12 illegal water connections in Sandakan dismantled

SANDAKAN:
The Water Department here dismantled 12 illegal pipe connections in Kampung Gas, off Jalan Batu Sapi, Thursday.

Its engineer, Ishar Hamka Ismail, said the department discovered the illegal connections during an inspection on a water leakage. “The operation to dismantle all the illegal pipes began at 9am and ended at 12.30pm,” he said in a statement.

He said those involved will be investigated under Section 53 of the State Water Supply Enactment 2003 and are liable to a fine of up to RM50,000 or two years’ jail, on conviction.
