Collision: Five hurt
Tuaran: Five people, including a six-month baby, were nearly killed when their Perodua Kenari collided with a trailer along the Tamparuli-Ranau road at Kg Bongol, Tamparuli.

Two women – Nur Syuhada Azureen Mujini Abdullah (31), Norharyatie Musaffar (29) – and the others were reported safe in the 4.30pm incident.

Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Department chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said his department received an emergency call at 4.45pm before a team and a machine were deployed to the scene.

Firefighters found the three victims conscious and rescued by the public but the extent of injury was not known.

"Earlier, two children were sent by the public to Ranau hospital and were also reported safe."

"Three other victims were sent by the fire department by ambulance to Tuaran hospital," he said.

According to sources, the Perodua Kenari was driven from Ranau to Tamparuli before colliding with the lorry carrying iron.

Qawie said further investigations were still being carried out by the police while the firefighters ended operations at 6pm. - R. Gonzales
