Jailed for stealing girlfriend's bag

Kota Kinabalu: A 36-year-old who stole his girlfriend's handbag five months ago, was jailed three years.Self-employed Rosdin Talib pleaded guilty before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus to stealing the handbag containing two wristwatches, a bunch of key, personal documents and RM2,900 cash from a car belonging to Miftahul Jannah Abd Rajul at 6pm on Jan 28, this year at the car park of the Giant Hypermarket in Kolombong.Inspector Albert Basiri, prosecuting, told the court that on the said day, Miftahul refused to allow Rosdin to enter her car but he gained entry through the rear door and took her handbag which was placed on the front passenger seat.

She then lodged a police report against Rosdin later on the same day.The court heard that Rosdin was arrested by police at Jalan Sepanggar in Manggatal on April 22 and several items belonging to Miftahul were seized from him.Rosdin confessed that he sold some of the items and spent the cash.He had committed an offence under Section 379 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to seven years on conviction.

Mohd Hanif Adam pleaded not guilty to stealing a handphone belonging to Lim Su Yan at 3.15am on June 16 in a room of a private hospital here.

The court fixed July 11 for case management and released Hanif on a bail of RM4,000 in two sureties. – Jo Ann Mool
