Kuala Lumpur: National junior golfer, Natasha Andrea Oon put up a solid performance after carding two-under-par 69 in the opening round of the 2018 Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific Golf Championship held at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore, Wednesday. The 16-year-old teenager struggled with the condition in the 5.904-metre layout course after dropping bogey in the second hole before bouncing back with four birdies in the front nine.

She dropped another bogey but recovered with another birdie in the back nine to share fifth place with seven others.

In Wednesday's round, the bubbly Oon was happy with her performance despite failing to find the pace in the early part of her game, while hoping for a better start in the second round on Thursday.

"I had a bogey early on, but then the birdies started coming and I started getting my rhythm.

My chipping was my highlight," she was quoted in the statement issued by the organiser.

"I made two up-and-downs out of three and they were really good chips. This course is long, but I love it.

It's in really good condition. We're playing in an LPGA-class golf course," added Oon who featured twice in the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia Golf Championship. – Bernama
