During the northeast monsoon, incessant rain for up to three days may cause flooding in low areas and areas prone to flooding. If heavy rain occurs at the same time as high tide, the risk of flooding will be higher. The public are advised to be vigilant and prepared in facing the monsoon season as well as being alert to heavy rain warnings from the Meteorological Services Department (MMD) through their website www.met.gov.my, mobile application myCuaca, their Facebook @malaysiamet, their Twitter @malaysiamet, SMS service 15888 and the MMD hotline at 1-300-22-1MET (1368).
