Eight injured in accidents

Penampang: A motorcyclist was seriously injured and seven others were slightly injured in three separate accidents, here, Saturday.

The first involved an Avanza driven by a man who was making a U-turn towards Lido from Jalan Lintas when a Naza vehicle suddenly crashed into him at the traffic lights at about 4am.

The Avanza driver sustained minor injuries while the Naza driver sped off.

In the second accident at the Hotel No 5 traffic light junction at about 3.10pm, a motorcyclist in his 30s sustained fractures to his leg when a Toyota Vios driven by a 46-year-old came crashing into him.

The motorcyclist was said to be heading towards Putatan from Inanam direction, while the Vios was heading towards Kepayan Ridge from Penampang.

The third accident involved an Axia driven by a man in his 20s, who was with his passenger, also in his 20s, at about 7.20pm.

The duo were from Donggongon and making a U-turn towards Donggongon when a Navara driven by a man, in his 50s, ploughed into the Axia along Jalan Penampang By-pass near Taman Padi View.

The Navara driver who was with his children, aged 16 and 18, was said to be heading towards Donggongon from the city centre.

All five from both vehicles sustained slight injuries. - Jimmy Goh
