The programme has also reached students in rural and remote areas, easing financial burdens and enabling recipients to focus on their studies and future careers.
Among the recipients is Wagner Naftley Daniel, 23, from Keningau, currently studying at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).
He said the sponsorship not only provides financial support but also helps develop soft skills and leadership qualities.
“Education can produce intellectual individuals who can contribute to the holistic development of the state,” he said, adding that he hopes to serve as a teacher in rural Sabah.
Farah Wazihah Mohamad Zulhalimi, 24, from Kota Kinabalu and a student at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), said the sponsorship motivates her to excel academically and grow personally. She also hopes to mentor younger students in the future.
Billy Cambell Peter, 21, also from Kota Kinabalu and a law student at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), said the assistance helps ease his financial burden and allows him to focus on his studies. He aims to return as a legal professional serving communities with limited access to legal services.
Hanis Nabila Syakilah Najamuddin, 25, from Tawau and a student at Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), said the sponsorship motivates her to achieve academic excellence. She plans to contribute to education through mentoring and volunteer work.
Yayasan Sabah Group said its education sponsorship programme remains a key initiative in developing knowledgeable, ethical and competitive individuals.
The programme is expected to produce graduates who will contribute to Sabah’s development through their expertise and experience.
