Kota Kinabalu: SMK Kota Marudu recorded the highest participation with 313 students, leading the Special Appreciation for Highest School Participation category at the 40th Sabah Annual Selected Works (KPTNS).
A total of eight main awards were presented in conjunction with the event, based on the respective competition categories.
This was followed by SK Taman Tawau with 46 participants, Papar Middle School and SMK Elopura Sandakan with 26 each, SMK St Francis Xavier Keningau with 24, and SM St Paul Beaufort with 14.
Recognition was also given to educators under the Special Appreciation for Inspirational Teachers category.
Award recipients were Hamree Murah, Umi Nadzreena Madslin, Chin Yee, Fredaus Johari Gugau, and Cshahyrull Ronny J Matimbun, in recognition of their contributions to arts education.
In the main competition, Category A (seven to 12 years old) recorded 10 winners, while Categories B (13 to 17 years old) and C (open category) each had eight winners selected by the jury.
The ceremony also saw Valintine Willie named Sabah Visual Arts Figure 2025 as a collector of artworks, while Jainal Amambing was recognised as a Naïve Art artist.
