Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Kinabalu Pink Ribbon (SKPR) has donated a portable ultrasound machine to Hospital Queen Elizabeth II (HQE II), marking another step in strengthening breast cancer awareness and early detection efforts in Sabah.
The machine was originally contributed by Borneo Samudera Sdn Bhd to SKPR under its community healthcare initiative and had been placed at HQE II in 2021 on a three-year loan.
Throughout that period, it played a key role in supporting breast cancer screening and diagnosis, benefiting numerous patients.
Following the completion of the loan tenure, SKPR has now officially handed over the machine to HQE II for permanent use, ensuring its continued availability for clinical services and outreach programmes focused on early breast cancer detection.
The handover ceremony was officiated by SKPR Deputy President Yvonne Dumpangol, who presented the equipment to HQE II Director Dr Ferro Firdaus.
In a statement, SKPR expressed appreciation to Borneo Samudera Sdn Bhd for its generous contribution and to HQE II for its ongoing collaboration and commitment to patient care.
The organisation said the donation reflects a shared commitment among healthcare and community partners to improve access to quality diagnostic services in Sabah, particularly in the fight against breast cancer.
SKPR also announced plans to further strengthen its partnership with HQE II through future outreach initiatives and community health screening programmes, where the portable ultrasound machine will continue to serve women in need across the state.
As part of its ongoing mission, SKPR remains dedicated to raising public awareness, supporting patients, and working closely with healthcare institutions to promote timely and effective breast cancer care.
