KENINGAU: Ken Hwa Keningau Secondary School recorded a commendable achievement with a 98.18 per cent pass rate in the latest examination, an improvement from 96.44 per cent the previous year.

More significantly, a total of 48 candidates obtained 5A and above, including one outstanding student who achieved 10A, reflecting an overall improvement in the quality of academic performance among the students.

The school’s principal, Anthony Chong @ Chong Yu Kiong, said the success was the result of the collective efforts of the entire school community, as well as continuous support from various parties including the School Management Board (LPS), alumni, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), District Education Office (PPD), parents and the strong commitment of the students themselves.

He noted that although the School Grade Point Average (GPS) stood at 4.38 compared to 4.86 previously, the increase in the pass rate and number of high-achieving students demonstrates the effectiveness of the school’s management and teaching approaches.

“The commitment of the management team and teaching staff, who work consistently and remain focused, are among the main factors driving this achievement,” he said.

Meanwhile, School Management Board Chairman Datuk Peter Ma Kin Yee commended the dedication of the principal, teaching staff and the determination shown by the students.

He said the achievement proves that a culture of hard work and close cooperation between the school and the community can yield positive and commendable results.

However, he added that there is still room for improvement, particularly in efforts to further raise the School Grade Point Average (GPS) in line with the increasing pass rate.

“This success should serve as a foundation to go further. With continued commitment from all parties, we are confident that greater excellence can be achieved in the future. Behind the numbers, there is effort. Behind the success, there is a spirit that never gives up,” he said.
