Kota Kinabalu: BIMP-EAGA Business Council Sabah (BEBC-Sabah) is working on a strategy to ensure the Lahad Datu-Sulawesi ferry service will not discontinue.
“I believe our transportation mechanism should be reviewed and better linked with industrial players, tourisms packaging and investment opportunities,” BEBC Sabah Chairman Dr Raymond Alfred said in response to the disappointment of Sulawesi-base M/V Cathleya Express regarding poor passenger load.

Ferry owner Rudy Effendi said the Lahad Datu-Tanjung Silopo new sea route is not receiving encouraging response after two scheduled voyages (December and January).
He hoped passenger load would increase in the coming months. Each trip costs around RM700.
