PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Azam Baki has confirmed that pro-Perikatan Nasional blogger Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah is being investigated over “rewards” she allegedly received for helping NGOs secure grants.
Azam said the agency was questioning Syarul Ema, better known as Ratu Naga, following complaints lodged against her. However, he did not disclose details of the investigation.

“We have received reports and we are investigating,” he told The Star.
“We are only questioning her. We don’t plan to have her remanded, at least for now.”
In a TikTok video last night, Syarul Ema said that MACC officials raided her house yesterday morning and brought her to their headquarters in Putrajaya.
She also said she was denied access to her lawyer and that even her husband was not allowed to meet her.

Syarul Ema claimed that her arrest was linked to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s senior political secretary Shamsul Iskandar Akin.
Last month, Bersatu member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard, alleged that Shamsul’s staff and proxies were using their political allies to abuse NGO funds.

In a letter of demand, Shamsul said he would file a defamation suit if Chegubard does not issue an apology and retract his remarks. He is also seeking RM5 million in compensation from Chegubard.
