Hajiji also said the Cabinet has approved the setting up of a Sabah Logistics Council under the Works Ministry to look into the formulation of policies, management and monitoring of logistics issues in Sabah.
Kota Kinabalu: The State Government will provide free medical check-ups for Sabahans, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor.

“The State Cabinet has agreed to implement the service under the purview of the Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Ministry.

"Initially, it will be implemented in 10 districts," said Hajiji during the Chief Minister's Department post-cabinet meeting at Menara Kinabalu, here, Wednesday.

This would be via mobile service using a special van equipped with sophisticated medical equipment to reach the rural areas, he said.

Hajiji also said the Cabinet has approved the setting up of a Sabah Logistics Council under the Works Ministry to look into the formulation of policies, management and monitoring of logistics issues in Sabah.

Hajiji said the Cabinet also agreed to allow the use of conventional building materials instead of the Industrialised Building System (IBS) for the construction of the Rumah Mesra SMJ.

This is because among reasons for the delay in completion of the Rumah Mesra SMJ was that contractors could not take up the project using the IBS material due to its cost.

“By relaxing the requirements, we hope the construction of Rumah Mesra SMJ will be faster,” he said, adding that the design of the Rumah Mesra SMJ would be maintained.

The Cabinet had also given the green light for the elevation of Paitan and Sook into  full-fledged districts.

Meanwhile, endless politicking would only harm the people and the country, said Hajiji.

That’s why the state government continues to focus on realising and fulfilling the aspirations of the people who prioritise progress, development and well-being.

“The State Government will also always be with the leadership of the Federal government in fighting and defending the fate of the people for the progress and well-being of this country,” he said, at a dinner in conjunction with the Selangor State Government’s official visit at the Sabah International Convention Center (SICC) here, on Tuesday.

Present was Selangor Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and his wife, Datin Seri Masdiana Mohamed.

Hajiji said the Sabah State Government remains committed to continue supporting the Unity Government led by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We reiterated this stance  a few weeks ago, after rumours of a ‘Dubai Move’ which supposedly planned to topple the existing government.

“For us, the Unity Government that exists today is working quite well and is effective.

“Therefore it needs to be fully supported for the well-being of the people and the continuation of the country’s economic development.

He also shared the achievements of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and later, PH Plus, which has been governing the state of Sabah for three years.

“In two consecutive years, Sabah has recorded a growth rate and very positive state revenue collection.

“With a state revenue collection of RM5.449 billion in 2021 and RM6.96 billion in 2022, it is written in history books as the highest revenue collection since independence.

“Sabah has also recorded the highest trade record at the rate RM118.1 billion in 2022, and the figure is expected to continue to rise up for this 2023 and 2024.

“The most significant amount of investment from inside and outside the country which now reaches RM33 billion shows efforts supported by the State Government for the past three years, to restore the state’s economy after being severely affected by the Covid 19 pandemic attack has been successful and brought quite good results,” he said.
