Armizan said KPDN is committed to helping the government implement the targeted subsidy agenda with a commitment that this policy would come with a guarantee of rendering targeted social assistance to the people in need.
PAPAR: All Malaysians are urged to register for the Main Database System (PADU) which will be launched by the Prime Minister on Jan. 2.
Upon registering, they must verify their profile and household information, said Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

He said the Government would allow three months until March 31, 2024, for the people to do so.
“I am calling on all Malaysians not to delay registering with PADU and verifying their information in the system. My advice is not to do it at the last minute because if they need to do correction in the system, they can do so which the government will inform how to do it,” he said, after officiating a Samat Family Fun Hike Programme at Bukit Bendera, Sunday.
Also present were Limbahau Assemblyman Datuk Juil Nuatim, Sabah Progressive Party Deputy President Datuk Edward Dagul, Papar District Officer Mohd Fuad Abdullah and Samat family members. Armizan urged all quarters to cooperate.
Not just federal government agencies, but the State Government, its departments and agencies and way down to the district and village level including community leaders.

“In interior and remote areas with no Internet access, the government will open an online and manual registration. All community leaders particularly village heads and Chairmen of Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) are urged to ensure that the communities in their respective areas will not drop out from registering in PADU and verifying their information in it.”
He said the Federal Government is committed to implement a targeted subsidy policy that will come with social assistance guarantees including targeted subsidy cash assistance.

“Implementing this targeted subsidy policy does not mean that the subsidy will be completely withdrawn, but it involves reforms in the provision of subsidies and social assistance to the people.
“The core to the implementation of the targeted subsidy policy and social assistance reform is PADU. Thus, it is vital for all Malaysians to register,” he said.
Armizan who is also Member of Parliament for Papar said KPDN is committed to helping the government implement the targeted subsidy agenda with a commitment that this policy would come with a guarantee of rendering targeted social assistance to the people in need.
“We hope this aid can help deal with the cost of living problems of the people. This is an economic reform that does not provide bulk of subsidies, but this agenda will also come with social assistance reform to make it fairer.
“This is where the government will use information in the PADU system to ensure qualified people receive the targeted social assistance and targeted subsidy.
“This is because the form and amount of social assistance will be determined not only based on income aspects, but also the amount of dependents’ and commitments.
It is important to deal with emerging issues related to the cost of living. The consideration and determination of the amount of social assistance will be based on PADU data,” said.
For instance, he said a person who has a monthly salary of RM5,000 or RM6,000 but with many liabilities like having to raise six or seven schooling children, may be qualified to be given the social assistance.
When Malaysians completed verifying their information in the PADU system after the deadline March 31, 2024, the Government would announce when the targeted ‘Rahmah Cash Contribution’ (STR) be distributed to qualified recipients based on their information in the PADU.
On security risk and fear of the PADU system being hacked by scammers and hackers, Armizan said the government would always improve the security level of the system from time to time.
“This system already exists and yes, there are risks but the government is always increasing the level of security for this PADU system. I think the people need to have confidence.
“For example this system will not involve the individuals’ bank accounts, so there is no need to worry about being scammed, unless you choose to click a scam link,” he said.
