Horse racing thrills continue in Selangor
Kota Kinabalu: Selangor Turf Club’s Piala Emas Sultan Selangor race over 2000 metres this Sunday (December 3) will see top gallopers competing for the ultimate racing trophy of the year in Malaysia.

As the final leg of the Triple Crown series comprising the Tunku Gold Cup and Selangor Gold Cup, this Sunday is indeed crunch time, when and where the best is separated from the rest.

Pasir Pinji has to be on top of everyone’s list. His form this season has been phenomenal with a record of four wins out of last five runs.

Last ran and won the Selangor Gold Cup (September 17) hands down, he comes back this Sunday stronger and prepared.

Black Thorn had plentiful left in his tank when he finished a close chasing second at the Coronation Cup 1600 metre race on November 5.

The additional 400 metres this Sunday suits him perfectly, and he has the stamina to get the job done.

Xena is endeared by racing fans. Her last outing on November 5 however was a huge disappointment to say the least.

She could not fire up in the last 400 metres stretch and came home last, not her usual running self.

As the saying goes form is temporary, class is permanent.  She cannot be disregarded given her track record.

Last but not least, Golden Payout is the wildcard in the pack. His October 8 run caught the attention of many.

Strongly challenged head-on in the last 100 metres, the gutsy Golden Payout swiftly responded tit-for-tat and won the race.

Carrying a lighter load this Sunday, he stands a strong chance of a podium finish.

In Singapore last Saturday (November 25), Royal Sabah Turf Club’s (RSTC) galloper Sabah Win had stormed to victory to the cheers of local racing fans in Sabah.
