Kota Kinabalu: There is drastic need for the State Government to provide, improve and maintain basic infrastructure to support investments, more so Sabah-based ones that can lower construction costs and provide employment for locals.
These include maintaining roads, bridges and ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

One of the partners behind Sabah’s first Integrated Clinker and Cement Manufacturing Plant (ICCMP) that began operations this month said despite investing millions on electricity and infrastructure and all without government funding – it is faced with constant blackouts and infrastructure headaches.
“If not, it will result in higher and unexpected costs that will deter aspiring investors,” said Dato Awang Ahmad, one of the directors of Makin Teguh Sdn Bhd, adding it is hampering the plant, 27km from Lahad Datu, from meeting urgent demand for cheaper cement in the district and surrounding areas.
