Dr Biswas and me in Tashkent. He offered hope, relief, strength, comfort and self-assurance to many people.
I WRITE this column with great sorrow because I have lost five friends over the past three months including my Grand Master Dr Satya Biswas, all infected by the coronavirus.

The most painful part of their demise for me was that I was unable to pay my last respects and see them off in their final farewell due to the movement control restrictions and strict standard operating procedures.

I was only able to convey my words of comfort to their families via text messages and followed up with voice calls.

Death is a subject that is not spoken openly in the past but now with hundreds of people expiring daily due to the virus it is no longer a taboo.

I would like to pay my tribute to Dr Biswas, 87, who was the president of Asian Astrologer Congress & South Asia Astro Federation and a renowned expert in metaphysical and spiritual knowledge.

He was a fatherly figure to me and he provided hope, relief, strength, comfort, self-assurance, and most of all kept me going.

When I’m in doubt, he was one of the first go-to person because his thoughts and wisdom were sound, and gave me improved understanding and grounding.

He passed away on March 26 after being hospitalised for five days in Raipur, India, with Covid-19 symptoms.

I spoke to him regularly following the intense virus situation in India and reminded him to take extra care but he told me he was strong and was staying indoors.

Three weeks before his passing we spoke and he shared his plans to have the next international astrology and Vasthu Sastra conference in Mauritius in 2022.

He did what he loved and that is bringing people together by organising events worldwide.

I was privileged to have travelled with him and participated in the conferences in Kathmandu, Bali, Colombo, Uzbekistan and all over India.

We last met in Tashkent just before the world plagued into the health crisis and Dr Biswas did not show he was retiring.

He was energetic and shared some deep knowledge with me on ancient secrets which were not even recorded in any sacred textbooks.

The passing of him and my other friends revealed that the safest space in our life, which is supposed to be our home, and that too has become compromised.

We now live in our homes like caged animals with anxiety due to the MCO and view every person with suspicion whether he or she is a carrier of the Covid virus.

The often asked is when will this pandemic be over and when will we return to normal life again.

Astrologically the pandemic is forecasted to prolong for another 10 months based on the hostile position of the planet Saturn.

The powerful Saturn is currently occupying in the sign of Capricorn which makes it unfavourable and causes tension, uncertainties and calamities.

It moved into current position on January 24, 2020, and it will be there until April 28, 2022.

Saturn governs longevity and resistance of every person and if the planet is strong and in a friendly place in an individual’s horoscope chart, he or she should be able to enjoy good health and long life.

However, if Saturn is adversely positioned in a person’s horoscope, then the longevity of the person will be threatened and may face high health risk.

Such individuals should take extra care of their wellbeing, get vaccinated as soon as possible, stay indoors, reduce physical interactions and follow the Covid SOPs strictly.

We are highly likely to embrace the new normal as the way of life even after Covid cases eases because the crisis has taught us that we are just guests and not the masters of the earth.

While I mourn the loss and unexpected passing of my friends, I will always remember them for their comradeship.

I will cherish Dr Biswas’s good luck gift to me which I’m wearing as a pendant in memory of a dynamic personality.
