SUBANG: The suspect allegedly behind the shooting at KLIA Terminal 1 last Sunday has been brought back from Kelantan to Selangor for further investigation.

Hafizul Harawi, 38, was flown to the police’s Air Operation Force base here in a police aircraft from Kota Bharu, where he was nabbed yesterday.

Hafizul, wearing a purple shirt, appeared calm as he was escorted amid a heavy police presence from the aircraft to a police car at around 2.20pm.

FMT has learnt that Hafizul will be brought to the Selangor police headquarters in Shah Alam.

This morning, the Kota Bharu magistrates’ court allowed the police’s application for Hafizul’s remand for seven days until April 22.

He is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 8 of the Firearms Act (Heavier Penalty) 1971 for the unlawful possession of a firearm.

In the early morning incident, Hafizul allegedly fired two shots at his wife at the airport’s arrival hall but missed.

One of the shots hit her bodyguard, who is being treated in hospital.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the incident stemmed from a personal issue and was unrelated to terrorist activities or groups.
