Kota Kinabalu: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick appreciated the media’s contribution and welcomed the establishment of the Koperasi Wartawan Sabah Berhad.

He said, the role of the media is very important in the effort to convey information and policies of the government as well as the programmes of the ministries.

“The ministry considers the media to be a long-term strategic partner and I hope that good relations between media partners can be strengthened to help spread the word about the ministry’s programmes.

“I hope that an event like this can further strengthen friendships among the ministry’s strategic partners, officials and staff of the ministry’s agencies, especially in Sabah.

“I am confident that with our togetherness like this, we are able to guide entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs including the cooperative movement, hawkers and small traders so that one day they can be proud of the best service we have provided,” he said.

He said this while speaking at the Kuskop Breaking of the Fast ceremony with his agency and the media here.

According to Ewon, Coop Bank Pertama will launch another Coop Bank branch in Papar this year.

“Agencies such as the National Institute of Entrepreneurship (Insken) have opened their offices in Sabah and started conducting training and entrepreneurship programmes.

“In addition, we will also start the construction of Tamu Desa this month and hope that the construction can start this month.

“With the construction of Tamu Desa, it will provide additional value and opportunities for hawkers and small traders to enjoy more comfortable business space, with the help of ministry agencies such as Tekun Nasional, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) and SME Corp,” he said.

In the meantime, Ewon also expressed appreciation to all 10 agencies under Kuskop in Sabah for their excellent services.

“I am very proud to see the success achieved by Kuskop and its agencies, including Angkasa and Bank Rakyat.

“I always look at the development and achievements in my ministry, including agencies, to ensure service delivery is always ‘above and beyond’ the people’s expectations.

“The Ministry will continue to develope and improve the achievements of entrepreneurs and cooperatives to a higher level.

“I also hope that the involvement and collaboration between cooperatives and entrepreneurs as well as agencies can be strengthened in creating Malaysia a superior entrepreneurial nation,” he said.
