Rahmah sales benefit 260,000 in Sabah so far

SANDAKAN: The Jualan Rahmah programme (PJR) which was launched in April last year benefited approximately 260,000 consumers, especially the B40 group.
The amount was recorded in five areas under Zone Five including Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Beluran, Libaran and Batu Sapi for the 2023 to 2024.

Chief Enforcement Officer of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Subsistence Costs (KPDN) Sandakan Branch, Azdy Zukkry John, said from April 2023 to March 2024, PJR had been held 145 times in Zone Five.
“From April 2023 to December 2023, the value of the subsidy that used is as much as RM450,575.78.
“While from January 2024 to March 2024, the subsidy value that had been used is 277,036.83. The total amount so far is RM727,612.61,” he said.
Azdy was met by the media during an inspection of essential goods in conjunction with the festive season and the PJR at a supermarket here, recently.

He said PJR helped eased the burden of the people, especially in the run-up to the festive season and also the start of the school opening session.
“The PJR was well received by consumers because the price offered is 10 to 30 percent cheaper than the original price.

“KPDN will also constantly monitor the supply every time the PJR was held.
“We want to make sure that these supplies are sufficient, especially sugar, packet cooking oil and flour,” he added.
Azdy also confirmed that the supply of essential goods such as sugar, packet cooking oil and flour were stable for Sandakan.
“The supply of these three goods is stable, but demand for the festive season has increased slightly due to the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.
