Kota Kinabalu: A total of 142 prisoners in Sabah have been offered early release under the Licensed Prisoner Release Programme (PBSL), which was simultaneously conducted nationwide on Thursday.
Sabah and Labuan Prisons Director Nora Musa said 61 Licensed Prisoner Releases (OBB) are from the Central Prisons, four from Kota Kinabalu Women’s Prisons and the remaining from Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Labuan Correctional Centre and the Keningau Henry Gurney School.

She said the Prisons Department will continue to develop community rehabilitation programmes in light of the great efficacy demonstrated by prisoners’ low recidivism rates.
“Recidivism rates for prisoners who participate in the community rehabilitation programme are lower compared to prisoners who serve their full sentence in prison.
