Sabah records better results in 2023 STAM

PAPAR: The 2023 Malaysian Higher Religious Certificate (STAM) examination results in Sabah show an increase of 1.67 per cent.

State Education Department (JPNS) Director Raisin Saidin said the increase was based on a comparison of the Maqbul (Pass) grade certificate of 58.49 per cent this year compared to 56.82 per cent in the previous year.

“Last year, a total of 84 candidates sat for the STAM compared to 132 in 2022, a decrease of 48 candidates.

“Out of the number, one candidate passed with distinction that is Mumtaz (Excellent) grade, while 10 candidates obtained Jayyid Jiddan (Very Good) grade.

“All Sabah STAM 2023 candidates took a total of 10 subjects in Arabic, with the subject ‘Arudh and Qafiah’ recording a 100 per cent pass,” he said when announcing the results of Sabah STAM 2023 at Toh Puan State Religious Secondary School (SMAN) Hajah Rahmah, here, Tuesday.

The STAM 2023 result announcement text was delivered by JPNS Deputy Director Mohd Zaini Yanin.

According to him, the 10 subjects taken are Arabic Insya and Mutalaah, Arabic Nahu and Sarf, Arabic Adab and Nusus, Arabic Arudh and Qafiyah, Arabic Balaghah, Usuluddin Hifz Al-Quran and Tajwid, Usuluddin Tafsir and Ulumuhu, Usuluddin Tauhid and Mantiq, Sharia Hadith and Mustolah and Sharia Fiqh.

“Based on that achievement, Sabah recorded a lower (better) State Average Grade (GPN) in STAM 2023, which was 3.30 compared to 3.32 in STAM 2022.

“The best schools of STAM 2023 in Sabah are Sekolah Menengah (SM) Islamiah Tawau and SMAN Islamiah Papar, while the District Education Office (PPD) Tawau was crowned the best PPD with an achievement of 2.40 per cent which exceeded the state GPN,” he added.

Earlier, 11 outstanding students of STAM 2023 Sabah, namely three students of SM Islamiah Tawau, Farizana Nur Haziyah Daud, Siti Nur Najihah Hazirah Nazarul Akmal and Dayang Nur Qasdina Yunus, and eight students of SMAN Toh Puan Hajah Rahmah, namely Faris Harzan Ramdan, Mohammad Zawawi Ahadin, Mohammad Aiman Ariff Aripin, Mohammad A’ydiel Farhan Ali, Muhammad Aqif Fitri Mohd Rafisyam, Nur Sabrina Ali, Amyra Efno Abas and Nur Farahin Ashikin Mohd Zain, received recognition certificates from JPNS.

Also present were JPNS Deputy Director (School Management Sector) Indang Kasi Sibin and Senior Assistant Director (Assessment and Examination Sector) Siti Hamni Hashim.
