KINABATANGAN: Sabah Housing and Town Development Authority (LPPB) Chairman Datuk Masiung Banah urged large companies to join in the effort to help the needy through their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

He said they should emulate the efforts such as those carried out by a corporate company Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad (KTC) which has shown its commitment to help the needy through a joint charity programme with a government agency.

“We are aware that we are surrounded by large companies in various industries, especially palm oil plantations,” he said when officiating the breaking of fast event jointly organised by KTC and the Sabah Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) at the Kinabatangan District Mosque compound, here, Tuesday.

It was part of the KTC-UPPM Sabah Ramadan Iftar Charity Programme tour which entered its sixth day Wednesday after it was started in the Kalabakan, Tawau and Semporna parliamentary constituencies.

From there, the tour continued to the Lahad Datu parliamentary constituency before heading to the Kinabatangan parliament constituency.
