Gabungan Rakyat Sabah successful as a government: Hajiji
Hajiji, who is also GRS Chairman, said if Warisan had not failed, they would still be the government.
CHIEF Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor lambasted Warisan leaders, especially its President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, for peddling fake political stories just to undermine the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-Pakatan Harapan (PH) Plus State Government.

The Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) President said Shafie is only good at spreading falsehood and slander without assessing what GRS-PH Plus has done so far.

He said Shafie’s accusation that the GRS Government had failed was unfounded. Instead, he said, the government led by Shafie for two-and-a-half years had been unable to bring significant change to the people.

“We (GRS) have made many changes,” he said when officiating the Gagasan Rakyat Mini Carnival at Alamesra, Kota Kinabalu, on Mar 9.

“We are successful as a government as we conducted many programmes for the people and their development.

“The one who failed was Warisan, Shafie Apdal. We want to ask Shafie what Warisan did when they ruled Sabah.

“He (Shafie) has been speaking here and there saying this government failed…failed what?

“What he did for two and a half years in Sabah. That is why the people rejected Warisan and Shafie and we cannot talk lies or nonsense.”

Hajiji, who is also GRS Chairman, said if Warisan had not failed, they would still be the government.

“He became the Chief Minister and it was not even because of the people’s mandate.

“He dissolved the State Legislative Assembly and did not get the people’s mandate, so what he has been saying all this time are all lies.

“We must speak the truth. I believe the people of Sabah are good at judgment, and we cannot allow this kind of leader to rule Sabah again.

“He (Shafie) said that if he forms the government again, he wants to do this and that…change the constitution. It is as if he is the only one clever.

“He is only good at putting others down and talking everywhere,” he said.

Hajiji said he was not as good at speaking as Shafie but “I am sincere in my struggle for the people and the State”.

He challenged Shafie to list the number of investors who came during Warisan Plus.

“Compared to GRS, there was an influx of investment into the State in just two years...the Sabah Oil and Gas Industrial Park (Sogip) has been successfully filled, while the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) is almost full.”

This is due to investor confidence in the current government.

The State Government plans to open a new oil and gas industrial park in Kimanis and another new industrial park between Kota Belud and Kota Marudu or Kudat.

“All this is for the people. We bring in investors to create job opportunities and I focus on the people.

“We can create thousands of jobs through the entry of these investors. This is what we do, not spreading political stories.”

Hajiji acknowledged many problems, such as the water issue, need to be overcome.

He said the problems were inherited from the previous government and would be resolved through the determination of the current State Government.

Also present were Gagasan Rakyat Vice Presidents Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif and Datuk Masiung Banah, Secretary-General Datuk Mohd Razali Razi, Women Chief Datuk Redonah Bahanda, Youth Chief Datuk Fairuz Renddan and Beliawanis Chief Emmie M Idang.
