Turath study: Sabah to collaborate with Usim
Hajiji called on Muslims in Sabah to empower themselves with knowledge, skills and change of attitude, which is one of the manifestations of good morals.
Kota Kinabalu: The State Government will collaborate with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (Usim) to sponsor students from Sabah to undertake an exclusive turath study programme for three years at the university.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said this was one of the efforts taken to deepen the knowledge of the turath.

“This programme called Duta Turath Sabah @ USIM is offered to Sabahan students who continue their studies at Usim.

“I see this effort as a very good initiative, especially for all of us to benefit from the knowledge of the turath.

“It is my great hope that the students who succeed through this programme can become scholars who can play a role in the empowerment of Islamic turath in Sabah after graduating,” he said when officiating the Sabah Turath International Symposium 2024 at the Magellan Sutera Harbor Resort, here, Thursday.

His speech was delivered by State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.

At the same time, Hajiji called on Muslims in Sabah to empower themselves with knowledge, skills and change of attitude, which is one of the manifestations of good morals.

“This is to increase and empower knowledge and appreciation of Islam to produce dynamic and innovative human capital.

“I hope everyone who attends this symposium will gain knowledge that is not only for themselves but to be shared with fellow Muslims in Sabah,” he said.

This symposium, among other things, aims to dignify the books of the Islamic turath and reveal their contributions so that they are always relevant to the people until today.

Accordingly, he hoped the programme would provide benefits and useful knowledge to Muslims in the State.

“Through this programme, the actual framework of reading the Turath book will be discussed so that the content found in it can be utilised.

“Studying the book of Turath is important and needs to be used as a guide to deepen knowledge and understand it, thus adapting to the current context of the Islamic world,” he said.
