Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park and its role as an industrial park in Sabah
KKIP is of great importance in the industrial development of Sabah due to its status as a specialised industrial park with the primary objectives of stimulating economic expansion, generating employment, and attracting investments.
THE State government initiated the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) in 1993 as one of the brainchild’s of the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah), IDS.

Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad, the former prime minister of Malaysia, inaugurated the KKIP park in 1995 with the intention of stimulating industrialisation and fostering economic expansion in Sabah.

Located to the north of Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, the park encompasses an area of 8,320 acres.

By fostering industrialisation and economic expansion in Sabah, KKIP aims to construct a prosperous, literate, and well-informed society.
