THE Bangau Beach in Sikuati, Kudat is still accessible by members of the public from its old customary access road.
This is contrary to some social media postings alleging that villagers were unable to access the beach to fish or to collect mussels, hindered by the construction of a silica sand export jetty.

The ongoing construction of a jetty that traversed a small part of the beach into the South China Sea by SBH Kibing Logistics Service (M) S/B through its main contractor, China Communications Construction Company (M) S/B, will be completed soon.
The new concrete road access to the Bangau Beach where the jetty construction is on-going, located beside the SBH Kibing Silicon Materials Sdn Bhd plant site, also benefits access to the surrounding few villages, as well as employment opportunities for them and Kudat residents.
