Keningau special education teacher wins World Changer Award

KENINGAU: Keningau Vocational College (KVK) Special Education Teacher, Raymond Weil Garagus (pic), was selected as the winner of the World Changer Award for the month of February 2024 by the Special Education Network & Inclusion Association (Senia).
This is for his contribution in educating students with special needs, especially in training them in the field of athletics, said the College Head of Research and Innovation, Dr Sirhajwan Idek.

He said Raymond guided and trained dozens of students with special needs at the college in the field of sports, especially athletics.
“Many students under his guidance won medals in school athletics tournaments for students with special needs and also premier school athletics tournaments at district, State and national levels.
Trainees Brigette Yasin and Victer Ben were recipients of the Senia Student Award in 2022 and the Senia Student Honorary Certificate in 2023, said Dr Sirhajwan.
Meanwhile, Raymond also expressed that he was moved to be chosen as the recipient of the award which motivated him to produce students with special needs who excel in the field of sports.

The director of the college, Nordin Akup, congratulated Raymond for his efforts to hone the students’ talents in the field of athletics.
