Threatening to kill his family
Aripin was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 29-year-old unemployed man who threatened to kill his younger sister and family, was jailed 11 months, Friday.

Aripin Dius pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing the offence against Amirah Dius, 27, at 9.30am on Feb 19 in a house at Kg Unggun Manggatal.

The court heard  Aripin went berserk by kicking the door of the house and other items before Amirah asked him not to make noise but Aripin instead threatened her, prompting the sister to call the police.

Before the police came, Aripin threatened her again that he would kill them all after he was released from lockup, said the prosecution.

Police investigations revealed that Aripin uttered the threatening words while he was under the influence of drugs and could not stop himself from raging, the court heard.

Aripin was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both, on conviction.

Duty counsel Mohd Nazri Zikiri, representing Aripin, requested a lenient sentence as he was remorseful.

Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik applied for a deterrent sentence.

In another case, a 45-year-old cook claimed trial to assaulting his 10-year-old son.

Thomas Sylvester was accused of committing the crime at 10am on Feb 15 in a house, at Taman Jumbo, Petagas.

He claimed that he did not hit his son as he only dragged his hand.

He was charged under Section 323 read with Section 326A of the Penal Code.

Kelvan in applying for a case management date, proposed no bail as the accused was acting aggressively towards his son and was residing in the same house with his son and wife, who was the complainant in the case.

Duty counsel Nazri applied for bail as Thomas is married with seven children and suffered from diabetes.

The counsel also informed the court that the accused was quarrelling with his wife and accidentally caused injury to the son.

Lovely set April 2 for case management and released the accused on a bail of RM3,000 in two sureties with an additional condition not being allowed to stay in the same house with the alleged victim and the complainant and not to make any contact with them until the disposal of the case.
