Advise elderly to avoid unhealthy activities: Jahid
Jahid said the programme was seen as the best platform for both parties as they know each other well and are capable of collaborating.
Tuaran: Community leaders are urged to always encourage citizens in their areas to avoid taking part in unhealthy activities.

State Rural Development (KPLB) Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim said community leaders ought to work together with authorities to guide citizens to prevent participation in matters that go against good values.

“To all the leaders, you are our hope to deliver a clear message to the citizens with regard to security and criminal offences in your areas,” he said, when inaugurating the Customer Meet-up and the Dialogue between the District Chief Police Officer and the Tuaran Community in PDRM High Profile Policing Programme at Tun Hamdan Tamparuli Hall, on Tuesday.

Jahid, who is also the Tamparuli Assemblyman, said the programme was seen as the best platform for both parties as they know each other well and are capable of collaborating.

This is to ensure that information delivery keeps improving in the future, he said.

Therefore, he urged all present leaders to pay attention and fully cooperate throughout the programme, especially during the dialogue session with the police.

“All my congratulations and good job to the district police headquarters for your initiative and effort to bring together the community leaders,” he said.

Tuaran District Police Chief, DSP Noraindin Ag Maidin, said one of the objectives of the programme was to build cooperation between PDRM and community leaders.

He said the responsibility to control crime has to be shared.

“We need the involvement of community leaders, and this fits so well with the PDRM slogan, which is ‘Police and Society are Inseparable’,” he said.

Also present were Tamparuli Sub-district Assistant District Officer Herman Tunggiging, Head of Department of Crime Prevention and Community Security, IPD Tuaran ASP M Sol Majaul and Community Development Leader (PPM) Tamparuli Madin Anak.
